We have the right to vote for the perfect party who deserve to run our government. We have the right to choose our rightful destiny for our future and our children’s. But what our minorities are left out, and we are constantly making mistakes and blaming it on our own choice in life.

The more votes, the more chances of winning the election. The more they take from us, the more they leave us in an empty shell, and finally give us a little back. Do our votes really count in the end?

Are we just humans who have our own rights? Or are we just engineered citizens? Brain washed to vote only a certain party. When everything ends, we mean nothing to them.

A child is born with dreams and an ambition, but the society they live in will sculpt and create them into something they are not. But our first Singapore Malay President, Mr. Yusof bin Ishak (1910 – 1970), is a born politician, not made into something our selfish society wants us to be.

The portrait of Mr. Yusof bin Ishak is fused with the famous Muppet character from Sesame Street is not a mockery but a reminder of how important and iconic he is to our country for being the first ever Malay president of Singapore, being printed on our currency note and also the founder of the Malay newspaper, Utusan Melayu, just like how Sesame Street and The Muppet Show has brought educational purposes and impact to our lives till today.

THE TRIPLE SCOOP OF DOOM

Do indulge in this painting as it’s a representation of Singapore as a cosmopolitan country; consist of the three main races in Singapore, which are the Chinese, Malay and Indians, layered deliciously on a crunchy waffle cone.

Living as a multi-racial country, we have learned to set our differences aside and learn from each other’s culture and heritage. This also sets a good impression towards foreign countries and making Singapore a tourism hub.

Ice-creams are delight able desserts, but eating too much of it may give you tooth decay, as the pain eat silently through your gums and rotting your teeth away. This painting also depicts the racial tension in Singapore. It may seem that Singapore is peaceful on the outside, but truth is there are some racial difficulties faced.

The three scoops of ice-cream flavors are placed in such a way that the smallest scoop represents the Indian society, second is the Malay society and lastly, the biggest scoop comes from the Chinese society.

The scoops of ice-cream may look delicious as a whole, but if you look at them individually it’s a whole different story. Each flavored ice-cream is secretly fighting its place to supremacy and power, to over-throw the other races.

MOM SAY DONT EAT TOO MUCH

Humans are protective towards everything that they stand for and what they believe.

In this painting, the cupcake eating a smaller cupcake represents that we are always sensitive when others tend to criticize our own race and resulting people to argue and post spiteful comments on blogs or forums.

But when as an individual, you tend to keep to yourself and do nothing about it. You are only brave in a number, but when you stand alone, you stand out as a coward.

FATMAN AND LITTLEBOY

This painting depicts the Remembrance Day when Singapore was named Syonanto (Light of the South) under the Japanese occupation.

But World War 2 ended with a big bang on August 6, 1945 when the Americans decided to drop the first nuclear bomb, Little boy, on Hiroshima. And thanks to its father, the Fat man, the second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki on August 9, 1945.

And on the same day, 20 years later, while Japan was still building up their country and gaining back their self-esteem. Singaporeans are celebrating their first independence day from the Federation of Malaysia.
